We voluntarily adhered to several initiatives undertaken with domestic and foreign entities to reinforce our commitment to sustainability, namely:
Strategy
Climate Change
To be one of the world’s lowest-emission zinc producers, achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
2030 Commitments:
- 10% reduction in Scope 1 emissions intensity per ton of zinc
- Maintain Nexa’s electricity mix entirely composed of renewable energy sources.
- Develop a Climate Change Adaptation Plan covering all operations.
- Define a carbon neutrality plan by 2035

To be recognized as a leading company in integrated environmental management, with a focus on process safety and compliance with local regulations in every location where we operate.
Natural Capital
Manage, monitor, and optimize operational processes while prioritizing biodiversity conservation and the mitigation of environmental impacts.

- Achieve a 10% reduction in specific water consumption at mining units
- Achieve a 10% reduction in specific water consumption at smelting units
Dams and Waste
Manage and monitor the facilities in Brazil and Peru, ensuring real-time monitoring of structural stability and strict compliance of tailings disposal processes with global safety protocols.
Human Capital

Health and Safety
Strengthen a culture of occupational health by consistently promoting preventive measures within Nexa and in the communities where we operate.

- Zero fatalities across all operational units
- Position Nexa in the top quartile of the mining industry in terms of Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR)

To promote socioeconomic development and leave a positive legacy in the communities where we operate, by fostering transparent relationships and investing in initiatives that support income generation, education, and local entrepreneurship.
Corporate Governance and Integrity
Gradually raise awareness within Nexa’s ecosystem (employees, suppliers, customers, merchants, competitors, and communities) regarding best practices in business conduct and human rights.

Since 2017, we have been a signatory of this United Nations Initiative, which aims to mobilize the business community around the world to adopt ten principles that represent fundamental values of human rights, labor relations, the environment and the fight against corruption.

An international initiative that evaluates and recognizes corporate actions aimed at minimizing and managing environmental impacts. Since 2019, we have completed the water security questionnaire, and since 2020, the climate change questionnaire. In 2025, we continued to uphold the transparency and quality of our sustainable management practices, maintaining our B rating.

We received the certification for the presence of women on our Board of Directors in 2021. WOB is an independent initiative aimed at promoting corporate environments where women serve on boards of directors or advisory boards.
Ecovadis
Ecovadis
A global corporate sustainability assessment platform that evaluates the environmental, social, and ethical performance of companies across various sectors. Nexa’s strong showing in the assessment demonstrates our commitment to improving social and environmental responsibility practices and our transparency with customers. In 2025, we improved our score with the Ecovadis rating agency, rising from 67 to 69 in the overall score and from 70 to 85 in the Environment score, earning recognition and a customer bonus.

An assessment conducted by S&P Global on the sustainability practices of listed companies, serving as the basis for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI). In 2025, Nexa Peru S.A. improved its score.
