Nexa Resources, through its Mining Lab initiative, joins Votorantim Institute and
the Beneficência Portuguesa Hospital of São Paulo to develop projects to face
COVID-19 in partnership with the innovation ecosystem.
The two challenges proposed seek to find solutions on two crucial themes to
contain the pandemic. The first one called “Data Science in the Public
Administration to strengthen the fight against COVID-19" aims to develop
solutions that support small towns and cities to reduce the spread of the virus
and face the crisis more efficiently. The second challenge: “Safeguarding
Professionals in a Hospital Environment” aims to guarantee proper working
conditions to ensure the availability of these professionals to serve the
population, considering that they are continually exposed to the risk of
contamination. Thus, the preservation of their health. and continuity of action on
the front line are essential to combat Covid-19.
“At the moment, when we are all working to save lives, joining forces with
partners experienced in innovation motivates us to develop this initiative, aimed
at improving our health system. We believe that the differentials of this
project explain the relevance of the challenges launched. The expertise of the
team involved for validation and the scale of innovative solutions” highlights
Cloves Carvalho, CEO of the Votorantim Institute.
The Mining Lab Challenge COVID-19 initiative will be carried out online.
Registration is now open until May 8th, through the website: The proposed solutions need to be scalable and have
immediate application. The Mining Lab team will hold two webinars to answer
questions, on May 5th and 6th. The initiative is supported by the corporate
accelerator company ‘Neo Ventures’.
